Glendowan U12s 2 Northend United U12s 2 Saturday 30th October 2010
Northend United Youth U12s travelled to Carrick on Saturday to play Glendowan in the league. United missing a couple of key players knew this was going to be their hardest match of the season so far as this strong Glendowan team has been sweeping everyone aside.
Northend started the livelier and indeed could have been in the lead but for some bad finishing and good defending.
Glendowan actually took the lead with their first attack when some terrible defending let in their striker to score past James Morgan in goal.
Northend struck back straight away when Andrew Milligan fed the ball to Zack Herbison who took it past a defender and slotted it into the far corner of the net.
The match turned into a midfield battle with both teams contesting well but it was Glendowan, who took the lead again, the ball was played down the left and their winger beat Morgan at the near post to send them in 2-1 up at half time.
United started the second half with some nice passing football and this indeed led to their second goal. Some neat work in midfield and the ball was fed to Zack Herbison who released David Kilgore to out pace the defence and slot it past the keeper for the equalizer.
Sam Stewart replaced the tiring Andrew Milligan. Both teams fought hard but just couldn't find a way past their opponent for the winner and in the end had to settle for a point which still keeps them both at the top of the table.
Many thanks from the team for the large crowd who travelled to support them.

Northend United Youth U12s played Chimney Corner at the Ballymena Showgrounds on a wet Friday night under the floodlights.
It didn't take the young blues long to break the deadlock, an excellent Philip Maybin corner curled into the net. This lifted the team and they started to play some great football with Conor Graham and Philip Maybin at the heart of everything.
Northend's second goal came midway through the half when Philip Maybin played the ball to Zack Herbison who ran from just inside the Chimney half and finished past the keeper.
Soon the blues went three up when a great delivery from Ben Sempey was headed on by David Kilgore to Zack Herbison who's first shot was only parried by the keeper but the same player was on hand to blast the rebound home.
United did score again before half time when great work from Conor Graham set up David Kilgore who gave the keeper no chance from twelve yards with a pile driver, leaving the half time score 4-0 to the Northend blues.
Conor McHugh, Jamie Crawford and Robbie Dennison replaced Bennett, Kilgore and Galbraith at half time.
The second half got under way with Northend now camped in Chimney Corner's half and if not for some great defending and safe hands from their keeper, United could have scored a few more.
United's fifth goal came from a corner when Maybin's low delivery was controlled and hammered home by Conor Graham.
Northend scored their sixth when Conor Graham passed to Zack Herbison and he out paced the defence and shot high over the advancing keeper for his hat-trick

Northend United U12s 5 Ballyclare Comrades U12s 0 Friday 8th October 2010
Northend United Youth U12's welcomed Ballyclare Comrades to their Showgrounds base for an evening match under the floodlights.
The game started with neither team giving anything away and the first goal didn't come to midway through the first half when David Kilgore received the ball twenty five yards and unleashed an unstoppable shot which the keeper couldn't keep out.
Ballyclare nearly equalized straight from the kick off as two of United's defenders got in each others way and let in a forward who chipped James Morgan in goals but saw his effort hit the crossbar. In turn Morgan played the ball up field and Zack Herbison waltzed his way through the defence to put Northend two up.
Northend increased their lead, when a flicked header from David Kilgore to Zack Herbison was passed to Philip Maybin who steadied himself to fire past the keeper, to leave the half time score 3-0 to Northend.
The second half got underway with Northend now in dominant fashion, but still had to watch Comrades who were quick on the break. Oliver Boyle replaced Maybin.

Antrim Rovers U12s 0 Northend United U12s 9 Saturday 2nd October 2010
Northend United Youth U12s travelled to Antrim Forum to play Antrim Rovers in the league. Northend started off strong and took the lead after ten minutes when a great corner from Philip Maybin was superbly volleyed home by Jamie Crawford from the edge of the box.
Philip Maybin was again the provider for the second when his delightful cross was met at the back post by Zack Herbison giving the keeper no chance, leaving the half time score 2-0 to Northend.
The second half started with Antrim Rovers coming at United, but the defence of captain Gareth Downey, Jamie Crawford, Conor McHugh, Robbie
Dennison and keeper James Morgan gave nothing away. Then Northend upped the pace and got their passing game going again, with Maybin and Conor Graham in midfield pulling the strings and Sam Bennett and Sam Stewart on the wings giving the fullbacks a torrid time.
It wasn't long before Northend scored again, this time Zack Herbison was brought down in the box and up stepped Conor Graham to blast the ball home.
Andrew Milligan replaced the injured Sam Stewart. Sam Bennett won a corner and once again Maybin swung in a great ball for Sam Bennett to score at the near post.
Bennett, McHugh, Crawford and Dennison were replaced by Ben Sempey, Ryan McKenna, Jack Galbraith and Eamonn Elliott.
More great passing led to Northend's fifth goal, with Ryan McKenna playing the ball up to David Kilgore who rolled it to Philip Maybin to fire past the keeper from the edge of the box. Another great move, this time Conor Graham to Zack Herbison who slipped it through to David Kilgore and he gave the keeper no chance.
Philip Maybin set Zack Herbison on his way for another when he outpaced the defence and rolled it by the outrushing keeper. Ben Sempey was next to get
in on the act when his excellent cross was only parried into the net by the unfortunate keeper. David Kilgore scored United's ninth goal when he outmuscled the defence and slipped it by the keeper.
This was by far Northend's best team performance of the year with every player being exceptional and if not for Antrim Rovers keeper pulling off a lot of excellent saves the score would have been higher.

Northend United Youth U12's welcomed Upper Ardoyne U12's to Smithfield in a league match. Northend started well and indeed pegged Ardoyne in their own half for the entire first half but just could not break the deadlock.
The uninspiring first half remained scoreless.
After a bit of a talking too by the Northend coaches during the break, the boys started to play attractive football with Conor Graham and Man of the Match Philip Maybin dominating the midfield. It was Maybin who opened the scoring when he burst into the box and shot low past the big keeper.
United soon doubled the lead when Philip Maybin swung a in corner and after a couple of goal line clearances David Kilgore drove the ball through the Crowd and into the net.

Northend United Youth U12s traveled up to a wet Mallusk, minus some first team players, to play the unbeaten Newington Youth in the league.
United didn't take long to stamp their authority on the match and take the lead when Sam Bennett won a free kick twenty yards out and up stepped Philip Maybin to rifle the ball high past the keeper and put Northend one up at half time.
Northend started the second half with fast flowing football and this led to their second goal. Great interplay between Conor Graham, Philip Maybin, Zack Herbison and Sam Bennett set up Sam Stewart who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper.
They soon added a third when more delightful midfield passing lead to Zack Herbison splitting the Newington defence for David Kilgore to again slot past their big keeper.
Andrew Milligan, Jack Galbraith and Ben Sempey replaced Stewart, McHugh and Kilgore. Northend scored their fourth goal when great work down the left wing by Andrew Milligan led to a cross and in stepped Sam Bennett to hammer the ball past the advancing keeper.

Northend United U12s 3 Comber Rec 3 Saturday 11th September 2010
Northend United Youth U12s entertained defending champions Comber Rec at sunny Smithfield in front of a large crowd. United always knew this was going to be a very hard match.
The first half started with both teams fighting for possession but none could get the better of the other. It was well into the first half before anyone had a chance with Northend's keeper James Morgan saving well at the feet of the opposition.
Northend did take the lead with a great passing move. Conor Graham playing the ball out wide to Sam Bennett who's cross was met by Andrew Milligan at the back post. He played it back to Graham who shot over the keeper's head from ten yards.
United were pegged back five minutes later when from Comber's corner, the ball wasn't cleared and was volleyed into the net.
Comber took the lead on the stroke of half time when their midfielder rode a couple of half hearted challenges before slipping the ball under Morgan and sending them in 2-1 up at the break.
Sam Stewart replaced Andrew Milligan. The second half started and Northend were now pushing forward more. The equalizer came midway through the half with Philip Maybin playing the ball out wide for Sam Bennett who again crossed the ball. As Zack Herbison challenged for the ball with the Comber keeper, the ball broke to David Kilgore who thundered it into the net.
Once again Comber took the lead and once again it was their midfielder who outpaced the Northend defence and slipped it under the hapless Morgan in goals to put Comber 3-2 up.
Robbie Dennison replaced Jamie Crawford. Northend's heads didn't drop and went looking for another equalizer. With a minute of the game remaining, Comber cleared the ball out of defence but the ball fell to Sam Stewart on the left wing. He lobbed it high into the edge of the box and there was Zack Herbison to smash it over the out rushing keeper and into the net for a share of the spoils.

Carrick Rangers U12s 2 Northend United U12s 4 Saturday 4th September 2010
Northend United Youth U12's travelled to Greenisland to play Carrick Rangers in the first league game of the season.
It took a while for the team to get going against their big and very physical opponents and indeed the match did not spark into life until well into the half when good play on the right saw Robbie Dennison and Gareth Downey combine to play in David Kilgore, who broke through the defence, he kept a cool head to put it past the keeper and put Northend one up.
Carrick drew level soon after when their striker just beat the offside trap to give James Morgan in goals no chance. They then they took the lead, a free kick deceived young Morgan and ended up in the net to put Carrick two one up at half time, to say their supporters were happy might be an understatement.
The second half started with Northend pushing Carrick back but just couldn't find away through the defence and past the big keeper. Jack Galbraith replaced the injured Ben Sempey. Sam Bennett replaced the tiring Dennison.
Northend equalised when Philip Maybin won a tackle on the edge of the Carrick box and slipped the ball past their keeper, to send their players and supporters ecstatic.
Better was to come when Sam Bennett won a corner. The quick thinking of Zack Herbison and Philip Maybin taking it short and when Maybin crossed Andrew Milligan slammed the ball in at the far post.
Northend were well on top now and a great flick from Herbison on the halfway line sent David Kilgore clear and he gave the outrushing keeper no chance to put United four two up. At the final whistle.
